JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
- Knowledge of arc welding equipment (AC/DC), including setup and maintenance
- Practical experience in MIG/MAG, FCAW, and gas‑shielded welding
- Ability to perform tack welding and prepare components for welding. Understanding of types of welded joints, seams, and quality requirements
- Edge preparation skills and knowledge of joint types and weld symbols on drawings
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols. Understanding of properties of metals, alloys, and welding consumables (electrodes, wires)
- Knowledge of welding defects (porosity, cracks, lack of fusion) and methods of prevention and repair
- Ability to perform basic weld inspection and quality control
- Understanding of welding distortions and internal stresses and how to minimize them
- Experience with measuring and testing tools
- Compliance with safety requirements, including safe handling of gas cylinders. Understanding of surface quality requirements after cutting and welding
Our Expectations
- At least 5 years of experience in ship fitting.
- Availability to move to another worksite if needed.
