Wärtsilä Vaasa, Finland is seeking a Vibration Engineer to deliver noise and vibration analyses for marine projects during sales and project execution, with hybrid work option.

You will join the Noise & Vibration Engineering team in Power Supply, performing measurements and calculations for engines, generators, and hybrid ferry projects, collaborating globally.

Ideal candidates hold MSc/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, strong math/physics background, and English proficiency.

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong background in mathematics and physics.
  • Knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration and modal analysis.
  • Fluent English; Finnish or Swedish is an advantage.
  • Analytical mindset with proactive, organized work style.
  • Ability to work independently and in international teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform noise and vibration measurements during engine factory acceptance tests.
  • Participate in delivery projects as the Noise & Vibration Engineer in the project team.
  • Perform torsional vibration calculations in both frequency and time domains.
  • Perform resilient mounting calculations.
  • Create technical specifications in accordance with internal standards.
  • Prepare and deliver measurement and calculation reports to customers and classificationsocieties.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders on noise and vibration topics.
  • Develop measurement and analysis methodologies and technical solutions together with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

We are looking for aVibration Engineerwith a main responsibility for delivering noise and vibration engineering analyses,measurementsand solutions for marine projects during the sales and project execution phases. The preferred location for this permanent position isVaasa, Finland.We offer possibility for hybrid work.

Your role and responsibilities

As aVibration Engineer, you will work in a global,innovativeand customer-driven organisation.This delivery-oriented role focuseson providing high-quality engineering analysis and solutionsthatmeet projectneedsand customerexpectations. Your work may include performing noise and vibration measurements during factory acceptance testing of generating sets for advanced passenger and research vessels, as well as presenting vibration analysis results and selected power transmission solutions forcutting-edgehybrid ferry projects. You willbe working as part of our skilled Noise & Vibration Engineering team within Customer Solution Engineering in Power Supply,providing specialistexpertiseacross all marine projects.

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
  • Perform noise and vibration measurements during engine factory acceptance tests
  • Participatein delivery projects as the Noise & Vibration Engineer in the project team
  • Perform torsional vibration calculations in both frequency and time domains
  • Perform resilient mounting calculations
  • Create technical specificationsin accordance withinternal standards

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering field
  • Strong background in mathematics and physics
  • Fundamental knowledge of structural dynamics,vibrationand modal analysis
  • Interest in internal combustion engines
  • Fluent written and spoken English and solid MS Office skills. Finnish orSwedish language skill is considered as an advantage
  • Analytical mindset and a systematic,proactiveand organised way of working
  • Practical problem-solving approach and strong technical reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment, with willingness to learn and adoptnew technologies
The following are considered an advantage:
  • Practical experience in linear vibration, airborne noise, torsionalvibrationor modal measurements
  • Knowledge of signal processing
  • Experience of or interest in engine dynamics
  • Experience with data acquisition system hardware and transducers
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO standards related to noise and vibration
  • Experience with torsional vibration analysis or marine power systems
