Overview
The University of Hong Kong invites applications for appointment as a Tenure-Track Professor in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 532273). The appointment is to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for tenure terms.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong track record in virological research and international recognition for scholarly achievements and professional expertise.
- Contribute to teaching, curriculum development, capacity building, and mentoring of early-career researchers; supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Take up a key role in achieving high standards of teaching and research within the Department; foster academic collaboration within and outside the Faculty/University; contribute to strategic development of the Department.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Virology, or related disciplines.
- Strong track record in virological research; international recognition.
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence and mentoring; experience in supervising students.
- Preference for demonstrated administrative leadership in academic or healthcare institutions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; annual leave and medical benefits.
- Salary tax at current rates does not exceed 15% of gross income.
- Contract-end gratuity and University contribution to retirement benefits scheme up to 15% of basic salary; housing benefits as applicable.
