Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Technician to diagnose and complete engine repairs at customers' sites. This role requires working on-site, following documented procedures, and maintaining service records. You will also perform preventive maintenance and coordinate parts and tools for each job.

The position involves travel up to 50% domestic, overtime when required, and participation in an annual bonus program. A valid Heavy Vehicle Qualification is required and a local driving permit is necessary.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic with ability to diagnose and repair engines on customer sites.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance per schedules.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and complete engine repairs at customer sites.
• Apply specialized tools and documented procedures to diagnose and repair, including parts/tools prep.
• Perform preventive maintenance on engines and related components in the field.
• Escalate unresolved issues to senior technicians or supervisor.
• Complete service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents.
• Identify additional service opportunities with customers.
• Maintain service vehicle and equipment for cleanliness and operation.
• Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and report issues.

Job Summary

Based out of our Lae branch, in this role, you will diagnose and complete repairs to engines at the customer's site.

Key Responsibilities

You will make an impact in the following ways

• Engage customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
• Apply the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engine and related components in the field.
• Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
• Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
• Identify additional service opportunities with customer.
• Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
• Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.

Additional Information

• 40 hours per week
• On call roster when required
• Able to work long hours including overtime when required
• Must hold Heavy Vehicle Qualification - Plant Mechanic, Fitter, Heavy Diesel to be considered
• Up to 50% domestic travel as required
