LotusWorks operates globally across EMEA and North America partnering with the world’s leading manufacturers across the Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical & Biologics, Medical Device and Data Center sectors. Our team of Engineering and Technical professionals is immersed in cutting-edge technologies and innovations. LotusWorks is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, integral to our people-first approach.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will support the Project Manager (PM) and team leads in the delivery of mechanical commissioning activities across data centre projects. You will act as a key point of contact for mechanical equipment, infrastructure, and control systems, supporting testing, troubleshooting, reporting, field coordination, safety, and training activities. Working closely with the PM and Electrical Lead, you will help ensure commissioning activities are executed safely, issues are managed effectively, and project milestones are achieved during the acceptance phase of the project.

With opportunities available across Ireland, Sweden and Finland, this role offers international project exposure, and candidates must be willing to support projects and travel between these locations as required.

Responsibilities:

Commissioning

  • Ensuring safe field execution of L2 Installation Verification Checks (IVC), L3 Pre-Functional Checks (PFC), L4 Functional Performance Tests (FPT) and L5 Integrated System Tests (IST) and associated activities across the mechanical equipment and infrastructure of the data centre. (Cross functional support is required in the absence of an Electrical Specialist).
  • Complete troubleshooting and fault-finding activities on systems, plant and equipment and log issues through the Automated Commissioning Management System (ACMS) - Compass.
  • Ensure a swift response to plant emergencies and equipment failures to minimise any potential impacts during FPT and IST testing.
  • Develop and review equipment-specific Method Statements, Systems of Operation (SOO) and Descriptions of Operation (DOO) to create test scripts that effectively and safely conduct testing in accordance with the commissioning test plan.
  • Execute test scripts for all mechanical equipment, ensuring all testing requirements are captured based on specifications, client requirements and project documentation.
  • Support field works as required by the leadership team, in conjunction with the General Contractor (GC), to ensure all works are completed in line with scope and approved test scripts.
  • Review documentation supplied by the Engineer of Record (EoR) relating to equipment upgrades, modifications and specification changes. Execute amendments as required, including control philosophy updates and changes to LOTO plans, and communicate updates to the commissioning team.
  • Report on daily script status, highlighting assets that have passed, failed, or have delays/cancellations, ensuring issues are logged immediately to support risk management.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure any system modifications or invasive works are communicated to the commissioning team and appropriately resourced.
  • Maintain familiarity with site SOPs and ensure strict adherence to all procedures.
  • Support the operation of all mechanical equipment, infrastructure, test equipment and associated installation/deinstallation activities.
  • Support the operation of equipment via BAS and CX Manager control systems.
  • Support testing activities and mechanical personnel during FPT and IST.
  • Apply tamper seals and maintain accurate records of their locations.
  • Develop and complete As Left Settings documentation following completion of L4 and L5 commissioning.

Coordination

  • Maintain daily communication and alignment with the PM and leads to ensure prioritisation of works during IVC, PFC, FPT and IST testing.
  • Provide updates and feedback to the PM and leads for daily planning meetings.
  • Attend and actively participate in daily morning alignment meetings with the commissioning team.
  • Ensure escalation procedures are followed for all safety or business-critical events.
  • Champion a culture of transparency and open communication between the client, LotusWorks and all project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with clients on activities requiring input, including AHU failures, over-pressurisation testing and utility failure testing.
  • Execute daily activities as delegated by the PM and leads.

Training

  • Complete all assigned training materials and Engineering Work Instructions (EWIs) to support knowledge retention and reduce dependency on key personnel.
  • Ensure all assigned training on assets, control systems, modifications and additions is completed within required timelines.

  • Maintain up-to-date Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out (LOTOTO) plans specific to each testing phase and ensure the process is followed correctly by all stakeholders.
  • Understand and adhere to switching plans, including exact points of isolation and procedures, while coordinating with team members and support personnel to ensure all stakeholders are informed.
