Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or as a Technical Lead in large-scale data projects.
• Experience designing, building and operating modern data platforms on Snowflake with data engineering emphasis.
• Hands-on with cloud tech and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD).
• Strong proficiency in Python or Scala and modern software engineering practices.

We are looking for a Technical Lead to join the Service Domain Data & Analytics team in Oulu under a full-time permanent employment agreement to lead the Customer 360 platform engineering team.

You will be leading a team of data engineers in the Data & Analytics domain within Digital Technology, based in Oulu, Finland. Digital Technology is the biggest banking platform in the Nordics, bringing together talented people from around the world who deliver solutions to our customers at pace, helping Nordea become a frontrunner in digital banking services.

As the technical anchor and lead engineer for our Customer 360 platform, you will spearhead one of our most critical initiatives. The platform collects customer-related data from different source systems across the bank, standardizes it into a Nordic-wide Customer 360 view, and feeds critical downstream channels and advanced personalization models. You will mentor and upskill an established team of data engineers transitioning from legacy big data technology stacks to modern cloud-native solutions.

What you’ll be doing

Main responsibilities in this role:

• Technical Leadership: Act as the technical authority for one of the Oulu Customer 360 engineering teams. Define software engineering standards, data design patterns, and migration pathways.
• Platform Re-platforming & Migration: Lead the design and hands‑on migration of complex ELT pipelines based on Apache Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Domain Architecture: Develop a deep understanding of the Customer 360 data model across 70+ upstream source systems and help evolve it, ensuring high data fidelity, effective schema evolution, and low‑latency downstream activation.
• Automated Data Quality & Reconciliation: Ensure that automated source‑to‑target reconciliation and data validation frameworks are in place to guarantee 100% data integrity during migration phases. Integrate pipeline test suites directly into DevOps deployment pipelines.
• Continuous Improvement & AI Enablement: Continuously identify and implement ways to improve the team's engineering effectiveness, delivery flow, quality, and developer experience. Evaluate, pilot, and scale responsible AI‑powered workflows and automation, measuring their impact and sharing successful practices across Data & Analytics.
• Collaborative Governance: Partner closely with domain architects, business analysts, product owners, and central security teams to align technical delivery with Nordea's long‑term 2030 technology strategy.

Your background and skills include:

• Leadership: 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or acting as a Technical Lead in large‑scale technology or data‑related projects.
• Data Engineering: Experience in data engineering is highly valued, ideally with hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating modern data platforms on Snowflake. Experience with dbt, Streams, Tasks, and Apache Iceberg tables is a strong plus, but candidates with a solid software engineering or platform engineering background and the ability to quickly grow into the data domain are also encouraged to apply.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM), plus experience with modern infrastructure as code (Terraform) or CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Software Engineering: Strong proficiency in Scala or Python, with a deep commitment to modern software engineering practices (unit testing, automated testing frameworks, and Git workflows).
