Job summary

Wärtsilä Corporation is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to strengthen our supplier quality assurance and performance management. You will develop and execute supplier development actions, monitor supplier performance and drive improvement initiatives across our global supplier base.

The role requires travel about 40% and a willingness to engage with suppliers on short notice; the position is hybrid with Finland as a preferred location (Vaasa/Helsinki/Turku) and Europe-wide opportunities.

Qualifications

• Understanding of supply management and quality principles.
• Good teamwork, coordination, communication and networking skills.
• Project management knowledge and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Experience in SAP and reporting tools (PowerBI).
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Proactive support for new product introduction and systematic quality assurance activities for components under your responsibility area.
• Monitor and analyse supplier performance, and trigger and follow-up action plans at suppliers.
• Take ownership and action on quality, delivery and cost activities.
• Support suppliers with their operational efficiency, product improvement and development initiatives.
• Assess and follow up on the suppliers’ compliance and perform supplier ratings (VMS) and perform regular audits.
• Act as a point of contact for suppliers with quality, delivery or technical problems.

Job description

We are looking for Supplier Development Engineers with a main responsibility in Part Quality Assurance Plans, quality & supplier performance management and supplier auditing. The preferred location for these positions is Vaasa, Helsinki or Turku in Finland, Trieste in Italy, Kampen in The Netherlands or other Wärtsilä locations in Europe. We offer a possibility to hybrid work.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Supplier Development Engineer your work will includeto identify, develop and execute supplier development actions. This includes monitoring and analysing supplier performance and executing action plans to improve supplier performance. Youll be working as a part of impactful Supplier Development team and Category teams with diverse expertise.

In this role, travel is required to meet with our suppliers. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 40 %, also sometimes on short notice.
