Job summary

ICEYE is hiring a Staff Software Engineer (Commercial Platform) in Espoo, Finland. You will own the architecture behind how customers discover, order, receive and pay for ICEYEason imagery and monitoring insights, unifying multiple backend systems into one platform.

You will lead the migration to production, set engineering standards, and guide several teams toward a shared technical direction with a focus on scalable, secure data platforms.

Qualifications

• Backend experience in Go or equivalent backend expertise.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and event-driven architectures.
• Cloud production experience (AWS preferred).
• Hands-on observability tooling: LGTM stack, Datadog, OpenTelemetry.
• Proven track record leading architecture renewal or large-scale migrations end-to-end.
• Ability to align multiple engineering teams to a shared technical direction.
• Geospatial or space industry experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Build the platform at the heart of ICEYE's data business and enable revenue growth for years to come.
• Own the architecture and migration plan to unify backend systems into a single platform behind ICEYE's monitoring intelligence products.
• Make key architecture and data-model decisions and push them through execution across multiple teams.
• Deliver the platform's first production milestone within Q1 2027 and then migrate remaining products without disrupting customers.
• Set technical standards for engineers as the platform consolidates.
• Provide guidance on where AI-assisted engineering practices add value and help teams apply them.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to keep migration aligned with evolving priorities.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

• Build the platform at the heart of ICEYE's data business: it's how customers buy and receive our imagery and insights, and it will drive the Data business's revenue for years to come.

• Own the technical architecture and migration plan for bringing several existing backend systems together into one unified platform behind ICEYE's monitoring intelligence products.

• Make the key architecture and data-model decisions and hands-on drive them through execution across multiple engineering teams.

• Deliver the platform's first production milestone together with the team within the first quarter of 2027. Then lead the migration of the remaining live products onto it without disrupting customers.

• Set the technical standards other engineers build against as the platform consolidation continues.

• Bring a point of view on where AI-assisted engineering practices genuinely help the team, and help others apply them.

• Partner directly with product and engineering leadership to keep the migration aligned as priorities evolve.

What we're looking for

• Backend production engineering experience in Go, or deep enough backend expertise in a similar language to ramp quickly.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and event-driven, message-based architectures.

• Production experience with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred).

• Practical experience with observability tooling such as LGTM stack, Datadog and OpenTelemetry.

• A track record of technically leading an architecture renewal, platform consolidation, or large-scale migration end to end, not just contributing to one.

• Proven ability to bring multiple engineering teams and stakeholders to a shared technical direction.

• Geospatial or space industry experience is a strong plus that will help you have an impact quickly. If you don't have it, apply anyway: most of our engineers learned the domain here.

Base salary range for this position is 8,500-10,500 EUR per month (gross), depending on experience, and will be negotiated individually.
