Proven track record adapting terrestrial RAN for satellite payloads.
Experience with UE simulators and high-latency satellite profiles.

Responsibilities

Drive development of NTN capabilities within the gNodeB software stack.
Oversee the software lifecycle from 3GPP feature analysis to architecture design.
Lead end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of 5G NR L2/L3 stacks for NTN.
Translate 3GPP Release 17/18+ NTN specs into software requirements and roadmaps.
Author High-Level Designs and Low-Level Designs for gNodeB components.
Address long propagation delays and high Doppler shifts.
Prioritize 3GPP features like HARQ and timing improve.
Provide technical guidance to development teams and perform code reviews.
Ensure architectural integrity during maintenance and delivery phases.

Job description

Drive development of Non-Terrestrial Network capabilities within the gNodeB software stack
Oversee the software lifecycle from 3GPP feature analysis through high-level architectural design
Lead end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of 5G NR L2/L3 protocol stacks and MAC-Schedulers optimized for NTN LEO/GEO environments
Translate 3GPP Release 17/18+ NTN specifications into software requirements and technical roadmaps
Author High-Level Designs and Low-Level Designs for gNodeB components
Address large propagation delays and high Doppler shifts
Analyze and prioritize 3GPP features including HARQ disabling, timing advance enhancements, and cell discontinuous coverage
Provide technical guidance to development teams
Perform code reviews
Ensure architectural integrity during maintenance and delivery phases

Requirements

Experience in LTE/5G NR protocol software development
At least 3 years in an Architect or Lead Developer role
Proven track record of adapting terrestrial RAN software for satellite payloads or transparent/regenerative architectures
Experience with UE simulators and channel emulators configured for high-latency satellite profiles
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or Electronic Engineering
Active use of AI tools and track record of quickly incorporating new AI tools into workflow
Willingness to work onsite three days a week
Willingness to live within 50 km of Espoo, Finland or relocate
Visa sponsorship requirements must be disclosed
