Job summary

Metso in Espoo, Finland, is seeking a Sourcing Manager to join the Hydrometallurgy Sourcing Team in the Minerals Business Area. You will lead procurement for concentrator and hydrometallurgical plant opportunities, coordinating with sales and regional procurement hubs to secure competitive terms.

You will define sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost savings and lead-time improvements through cross-functional collaboration across global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or another relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, or a related business function.
• Experience in project-driven environments and supporting large-scale project execution.
• Proven track record of cost savings, lead-time improvements, supplier development, or risk mitigation.
• Understanding of industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, or process plant technologies.
• Experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking with a hands-on, results-oriented approach.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in a global matrix organization.
• Proactive, self-driven, capable of leading initiatives from concept to implementation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Act as the procurement lead for solution (Concentrator and Hydrometallurgical plants) sales opportunities in close collaboration with sales stakeholders and regional Procurement Hubs.
• Lead the RFQ process for third-party equipment during the proposal phase, ensuring competitive pricing, supplier responsiveness, and risk awareness.
• Ensure project readiness for third-party equipment (suppliers approved, supplier quotations in line with agreed T&C’s etc.).
• Support proposal teams with market intelligence, cost competitiveness analyses, and supplier insights.
• Develop and continuously improve pricing tools and cost models together with engineering teams to enhance quotation accuracy and efficiency.
• Define and execute sourcing strategies for third-party equipment used in Concentrator and Hydrometallurgical plants, aligned with business priorities and growth objectives.
• Translate sourcing strategies into procurement roadmaps and actionable development plans.
• Build and develop a competitive, high-performing, and responsive supplier base.
• Identify and implement Best-Cost-Country sourcing opportunities and expand the supplier network through qualification and development of new suppliers.
• Drive improvements in supplier lead times, availability, and overall supply chain resilience.
• Own supplier performance management across cost, quality, delivery, and sustainability dimensions.
• Ensure early sourcing involvement in product development and support prioritized R&D initiatives.
• Monitor sourcing KPIs and lead continuous improvement actions to achieve business targets.
• Ensure sourcing decisions and initiatives support business needs, project execution excellence, and profitability goals.
• Own and develop relationships with selected strategic suppliers, driving long-term value creation and collaboration.
• Lead commercial negotiations, establish framework agreements, and secure competitive terms and conditions.
• Drive supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor supplier qualification, assessment, and approval processes in collaboration with Supplier Quality teams.
• Identify and mitigate supplier-related risks while supporting supply continuity and project execution

We are looking for a Sourcing Manager to join our Hydrometallurgy Sourcing Team within the Minerals Business Area.

More specifically you will be responsible for

Solution sales support

• Act as the procurement lead for solution (Concentrator and Hydrometallurgical plants) sales opportunities in close collaboration with sales stakeholders and regional Procurement Hubs.

You will play a meaningful role within BA Minerals Global Procurement, contributing to the success of our sales and project delivery activities. You will report to Tuomas Tanskanen, Sourcing Director, Hydrometallurgy.

To be successful in this challenging role you should have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or another relevant field.
