Solutions Engineer – SS7 Signalling, IP Routing

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced telecom engineer to lead end-to-end Diameter connectivity and interworking with MNOs in Espoo. You will own signaling design, testing, and production deployment, translating IR.21/RAEX data into robust configurations and sustaining live traffic.

The role requires deep Diameter expertise, IP interconnect fundamentals, and disciplined change management. Onsite work three days a week in Espoo, with collaboration across global teams and multiple time zones.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in mobile-core signaling or roaming interconnect engineering.
• Deep Diameter experience including DRA/DEA configuration and S6a/S6d.
• Strong IP interconnect fundamentals and security coordination.
• Advanced ability to read Wireshark traces for signaling issues.
• Experience translating IR.21/RAEX data into configurations and IREG validation.
• Disciplined change management, documentation, and live production risk handling.
• Preferred: NB-IoT NTN, NIDD, MME troubleshooting, SS7/MAP, IoT roaming.
• Preferred: Core-network Signalling & IP configuration automation with Python.
• Willingness to work onsite three days a week in Espoo, Finland.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure signaling, DRA/DEA routing, peers, connections, realms, Diameter identities, GT mappings, and point-code mappings.
• Translate IR.21/RAEX inputs into accurate, version-controlled operational configurations.
• Plan interconnect IP addressing and coordinate DNS/ENUM, APN, realm resolution, firewall/ACL, and IPX peering changes.
• Own end-to-end IREG-side testing for network registration, attach sequences, S6a/S6d authentication, SGd SMS, and NIDD where applicable.
• Analyze Wireshark signaling traces and resolve failures across Skylo, IPX providers, and partner MNOs.
• Collaborate with Skylo IPX partners and MNO IPX teams to isolate routing and configuration issues.
• Establish change-control, peer-review, rollback, and documentation practices.
• Create LLD documents for every interconnection.
• Partner with Network Engineering, NOC, Security, Product, and external MNO teams through go-live and stabilization.
• Turn MNO profiles into production-ready Diameter connectivity and validated live traffic.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in mobile-core signaling, roaming interconnect, telecom solutions engineering, or network operations
• Deep technical Diameter experience, including DRA/DEA configuration, realm routing, peer management, and S6a/S6d/SGd protocols
• Strong IP interconnect fundamentals, including DNS/ENUM, routing, security controls, and firewall/ACL coordination over IPX/GRX networks
• Advanced protocol analysis skills with the ability to read Wireshark traces to independently diagnose signaling failures
• Proven experience translating complex IR.21/RAEX data into operational configurations and executing structured IREG validation
• Disciplined approach to change management, documentation, configuration integrity, and live production risk
• Preferred: NB-IoT NTN, NIDD, MME registration troubleshooting, SS7/MAP, STP, or IoT roaming experience
• Preferred: Hands-on experience with Signalling & IP configuration in Core network
• Preferred: Automation experience using Python, APIs, infrastructure as code, or network testing frameworks
• Willingness to work onsite three days a week in Espoo, Finland
• Ability to collaborate across multiple time zones and with global teams
