AGCO in Suolahti, Finland is seeking a senior backend Software Engineer to lead architecture and develop scalable Java Spring Boot services. You will collaborate with product, frontend and QA, drive high-availability systems on AWS and Kubernetes, and spearhead AI‑driven development to improve productivity and code quality.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering across APIs, observability, security and testing, with four onsite days at Suolahti and one remote day.

Senior, backend developer/engineer with extensive experience to lead the architecture and development of our scalable backend services. In this role, the individual will be responsible for designing and maintaining high-availability applications using Java Spring Boot, while collaborating with systems engineering to optimize our AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure. The individual will play a pivotal role in spearheading our AI-driven development workflows, ensuring our systems are resilient while driving measurable improvements in engineering productivity and code quality. The ideal candidate is an innovative technical leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about exploring AI-assisted automation, establishing communities of practice, and inspiring teams toward modern technical excellence.

Your Impact:

Backend Engineering & Architecture: Develop and maintain scalable Java Spring Boot services, drive architectural decisions, and ensure high-quality delivery with strong coding, testing, security, and observability standards.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with frontend teams, product managers, and QA to deliver reliable features with consistent and predictable outcomes.

Performance& Reliability Optimization: Continuously monitor systems, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance scalability, stability, and overall performance.

AI‑Driven Innovation & Leadership: Lead adoption of AI-assisted development, build frameworks and best practices, foster communities of practice, and drive productivity and quality improvements through modern engineering approaches.

Your Experience and Qualifications:

Working experience as Developer. Strong backend engineering expertise with Java and Spring Boot, specializing in scalable and resilient system design

Proven experience in designing, developing, and optimizing robust APIs and backend services with sound architectural decision-making.

Adept at enforcing best practices across code quality, testing, observability, and security, while also leveraging AI-assisted development tools.

Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, including building frameworks, leading Communities of Practice, and working cross-functionally with product, frontend, and QA teams
