Job summary

ABB söker en Software Design Engineer inom inbyggda teknologier för Netcontrol-teamet. Rollen kan vara i Helsingfors, Finland eller Västerås, Sverige. Rapportering till Program Manager, Embedded SW & HW, och fokuserar på Linux-kärnan samt distributionen av Netcon 200 och Netcon 500.

Arbetssättet är hybrid. Du bidrar till utveckling och underhåll av Netcon-produkterna och arbetar nära nätverks- och säkerhetsaspekter.

Qualifications

• Erfarenhet av Linux-baserad kärna och distribution är nödvändig.
• C-programmering och inbäddad programmering krävs.
• Utbildningsbakgrund i mjukvaruteknik eller liknande.
• Förståelse för nätverkskommunikation och brandväggar; Python/Bash-scripting.
• Erfarenhet av verktyg som GIT och/eller Azure DevOps.
• Engelska flytande; svenska/finska är meriterande.
• Kännedom om cybersäkerhet för inbyggda system samt kunskap i C++ är meriterande.

Responsibilities

• Delta i utvecklingen av Netcon 200 och Netcon 500 produkterna.
• Underhålla Netcon 200 och Netcon 500 produkterna.

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Software Design Engineer interested in working with embedded technologies to join our team at ABB Netcontrol, part of our Distribution Solutions Division. This role can be located in either Helsinki, Finland or Västerås, Sweden. In this role you will report to our Program Manager, Embedded SW & HW. You will get to focus especially on Linux-based operating system kernel and distribution. You will mainly work with two of our products: Netcon 200, which is a compact feeder remote terminal unit for secondary substations, and Netcon 500, which is a cyber secure and versatile standards-based remote terminal unit and substation gateway.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

• Participating in the development of Netcon 200 and Netcon 500 products
• Maintaining Netcon 200 and Netcon 500 products

Qualifications for the role

• Previous experience in a Linux-based operating system kernel and distribution is necessary to succeed in this role
• Good knowledge of the C programming language, along with experience in embedded programming and hardware-oriented programming
• A suitable educational background, for example a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Software Engineering or similar
• Understanding of network communication and firewalls as well as Python and Bash scripting ability
• Experience working with tools such as GIT and / or Azure DevOps
• Fluency in English is necessary in this role, skills in Finnish or Swedish are an advantage
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles for embedded systems as well as skills in C++ are an advantage in the role
