Job description
Overview

Lapland Staff is looking for sled dog guides for the winter season 2025-2026, for Lapland Husky Safaris Luosto. Our kennel is a middle-sized husky kennel with about 200 dogs and 15 staff members. Husky safaris are a popular excursion for international guests during their holiday in Lapland.

Responsibilities
  • Take care of the dogs and daily kennel work: feeding, watering, socializing puppies, and cleaning kennels.
  • Guide safaris: preparation of the safaris and dismantling tasks after the program.
  • Customer service at the kennel and in the terrain during the safari.
  • Guide dog sledges and potentially assist with route maintenance.
  • Work in a team where everyone does everything in Luosto.
Qualifications and experience
  • English fluency; good communication with people and dogs.
  • Cheerful, flexible, multi-talented, and comfortable with physical outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • French language is an advantage.
  • Class B driving license is required; snowmobile driving experience is an advantage.
  • First aid training is organized at the start of the season; previous first aid skills are an advantage.
  • Previous experience in guide work, outdoor winter work, regional knowledge, and working with dogs are advantages.
  • Realistic understanding of the physical demands and rewarding nature of the work.

Logistics
  • The employment is a fixed-term seasonal contract under the Collective Agreement in the Adventure Services sector. Start: November 2025; end: March 2026.
  • Salary according to the Collective Agreement for Adventure Services grade A-C, starting from 11 € gross per hour.
  • Working hours include weekends and public holidays; Sundays and Finnish bank holidays are paid double.
  • Accommodation is provided at a reasonable rent relative to local prices.
  • Having your own car is necessary to transfer between accommodation and work. Lapland Husky Safaris is a non-smoking workplace.
