Qualifications

In this role, you will act as the bridge between product managers, development teams, certification authorities, and end-users, ensuring our solutions remain compliant, cyber-secure, and future-ready (S-100, IEC/IHO, naval standards).

You will join an Agile product development team and contribute across the full lifecycle: requirements, compliance validation, certification, documentation, and expert consultancy.

The preferred location for this position is Helsinki, Finland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements engineering: Collect, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for navigation products.
  • Documentation: Compile, structure, and review technical manuals, guides, and other technical documentation.
  • Cross-team consultancy: Support software developers, product managers, support engineers, and other stakeholders with system-level insights and advice.
  • Standards expertise: Help with interpreting applicable international standards in the area of maritime navigation (IMO, IEC, IHO, NATO STANAG, etc.).
  • Certification support: Liaise with classification societies and authorities (DNV, BSH, etc.) to secure and maintain type approvals and certificates (MED-B, MER, cyber compliance, etc.).
  • Verification & validation: Design and setup up test benches and validate the products
  • Knowledge sharing: Maintain the product knowledge base, and conduct trainings and webinars for internal teams, partners, and customers.
  • Customer interaction: Provide expert support during inspections, audits, and customer acceptance trials.
  • Travel: Occasional business travel (10–20%) to customer sites, shipyards, and authority meetings (most of WECDIS projects are located in India).
To be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, IT, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience as a System Analyst / Requirements Engineer / Technical.
  • Solid knowledge of IT networks (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP).
  • Solid knowledge of computer operating systems: Windows (advanced), Linux.
  • Skilled in requirements and documentation tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Team player and collaboration mindset.
  • Analytical mindset and ability to learn quickly.
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Readiness to business trips.
  • Maritime experience will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with relevant IMO, IHO, IEC standards and certification processes.
  • Strong knowledge of navigational or marine electronics systems (ECDIS, WECDIS, INS/IBS, radar integration).
  • Knowledge of marine networks and NMEA protocol.
  • Experience working on military projects as project manager, analyst or another role.
  • Basic knowledge of Python, Batch or PowerShell.
