Job summary

UPM, based in Helsinki, Finland, seeks a Senior Risk Manager to join its Risk Management team. This senior role has a global Group scope, strengthening enterprise risk management and supporting risk-informed decisions across the company.

The position focuses on developing risk practices, analyses, and insurance programs, working with senior management and cross-functional teams to drive proactive risk strategies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Several years of experience in enterprise risk management, insurance, finance or related field.
• Strong numerical, analytical and modelling skills.
• Ability to translate complex information into clear analysis and recommendations for senior management.
• Independence with effective collaboration across a matrix organization.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and further develop UPM’s enterprise risk management practices.

We are now looking for a Senior Risk Manager to join the UPM Risk Management team.

This is a senior specialist role with a global Group scope, focused on strengthening enterprise risk management, insurance management and supporting risk-informed decision-making across the company.

What you will do:

• Manage and further develop UPM’s enterprise risk management practices.
• Analyze material risks, exposures and dependencies, including their potential financial impacts.
• Prepare scenarios, sensitivity analyses and risk financing analyses to support business decisions.
• Develop risk data, dashboards, reporting and analytical tools.
• Manage and develop UPM’s global insurance programs and support insurance, captive and risk financing decisions.
• Manage underwriting data and insurance-related documentation and play a leading role in insurance claims management.
• Provide clear conclusions and recommendations for senior management and continuously improve risk management methods and practices.

Who you are:

• You have a Master’s degree or another relevant university degree.
• You have several years of experience in enterprise risk management, insurance, finance, business analysis, consulting, audit, risk modelling, data analytics or a related field.
• You have strong numerical, analytical and modelling skills and are comfortable working with complex business, financial and risk data.
• You can translate complex information into clear analysis and recommendations for senior management.
• You work independently and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across a matrix organization.
• You have excellent presentation and communication skills.
• You communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing, and are willing to travel when needed.
• Experience in a multinational industrial or capital-intensive environment, insurance or risk financing, or tools such as Power BI and ServiceNow is considered an advantage.
