Job summary

VTT in Finland is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Quantum Algorithms and Software team and contribute to strategic development of quantum computing research and applications within national and international projects.

You will lead research activities on quantum algorithms and software for computing platforms, guide project work packages, foster collaborations with industry and academia, and shape the roadmap while pursuing competitive funding.

Qualifications

M.Sc. or Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field.
Several years of postdoctoral or industrial R&D experience in quantum computing.
Strong publication record and demonstrated scientific impact in quantum computing.
Proven experience in leading research activities or projects.
Experience in acquiring competitive research funding and large collaborations is a plus.
Good understanding of quantum computing architectures and current hardware limits.
Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Lead research activities in quantum algorithms, applications, and software development.
Define and drive new research directions aligned with VTT's strategy.
Contribute to project acquisition, including proposals and consortia.
Build and maintain collaborations with industry, research partners, and funding agencies.
Mentor and support junior researchers and scientists.
Contribute to national and international projects as coordinator, work package, or task leader.
