Job summary

VTT, a leading European applied research organisation, invites applications for a Research Scientist in its Quantum Algorithms and Software team in Espoo. You will design and implement quantum algorithms, benchmarks on quantum processors, and develop software tools for reproducible research.

Qualifications

M.S./Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, or computer science.
Experience in quantum computing or related research area.
Knowledge of near-term quantum platforms and circuit design.
Strong programming skills for reproducible workflows.
Experience with Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane or similar.
Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and evaluate quantum algorithms, and hybrid quantum-classical frameworks.
Design benchmarking studies on VTT quantum computers and simulators.
Contribute to software tools, libraries, and workflows for quantum research.
Investigate emerging application areas and assess practical utility of quantum computing.
Collaborate with researchers, software engineers, and industrial partners.
Contribute to project activities as work package leader, task leader, coordinator, or member.
