Futurice is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead 1–2 client deliveries within our Delivery Excellence team in Helsinki or Tampere. You’ll manage end‑to‑end project health, budgets, and governance, guiding conversations toward pragmatic solutions in a fast‑paced consulting environment.

You’ll work across disciplines, partnering with stakeholders at all levels to ensure on‑time, on‑budget outcomes while fostering a collaborative, AI‑enabled project workflow.

About the role

Are you an experienced project manager who thrives under pressure, commands complex and often fixed‑priced deliveries, and maneuvers seamlessly with multiple different stakeholders?

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Delivery Excellence team to steer client deliveries across diverse industries. At Futurice, you won’t be buried under heavy, bureaucratic project administration. Instead, you’ll bring what truly makes an exceptional consultant: commercial sharpness, deep empathy for both clients and delivery teams, and the confidence to guide tough conversations toward pragmatic solutions. You know contract governance inside out, manage budgets and margins with rigor, and turn shifting scopes into clear, shared agreements.

We actively integrate practical AI, modern data engineering, and generative tooling into daily project workflows and client transformations. So you will get hands‑on experience leading cutting‑edge AI‑augmented development initiatives.

This is a full‑time, permanent position based out of our Helsinki or Tampere offices, with flexible hybrid work practices.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will typically manage 1–2 concurrent projects. With high autonomy comes end‑to‑end accountability: the contract is your framework, and project health—both human and financial—is in your hands. You’ll act as the trusted bridge between our multidisciplinary craftspeople and client decision‑makers.

Key responsibilities include

• Leading custom digital projects from initial discovery to handover, keeping scope, timelines, forecasts, and profitability firmly on track.

• Owning project financials and contractual baselines end‑to‑end. Maintain credible forecasts (EAC, staffing mix, utilization) to safeguard project margins and eliminate unbilled surprises.

• Stepping in if needed—you reconstruct the facts, align on a credible path forward, and steer execution until control and client trust are restored.

• Facilitating steering groups, spot scope creep early, negotiate change requests constructively, and ensure both value and contract realities stay balanced.

• Partnering across all levels of the client organization—from hands‑on development leads to director and C‑level decision‑makers, especially in complex setups with conflicting priorities.

• Creating psychological safety and clarity for your cross‑functional team, and shielding them from external friction so they can focus on what they do best.

• Contributing to our Delivery Excellence practice by spotting systemic delivery risks, challenging overly optimistic assumptions, and mentoring peers in governance and forecasting.

What we hope you bring

We are looking for a project manager who is comfortable operating in dynamic consulting environments and ready to hit the ground running:

• 5–10 years of IT consulting PM experience with proven end‑to‑end delivery. Given our fast‑paced, multi‑client environment, hands‑on experience driving multiple shorter‑cycle projects to successful completion is essential; a background solely focused on a single long‑term program won’t be the right match for this role.

• Proven track record owning project P&L, milestones, delivery costs, billable rates, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) across various pricing models.

• Experience stepping into high‑friction or struggling deliveries, re‑establishing clear governance, and turning around commercial or delivery drift.

• The courage and diplomacy to hold your ground, clarify decision authority, and formalize contract amendments without harming customer partnerships.

• Solid understanding of modern custom software delivery, cloud setups, integrations, and how agile multidisciplinary teams build great digital products.

• Comfort navigating different client cultures and industries, staying calm and focused when timelines get tight, and adapting swiftly to various tooling stacks.

• Fluent professional working proficiency in both Finnish and English (written and spoken).

Nice to have (bonus points)

• Recognized project management certifications (such as IPMA, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent)—we see these as a great plus, though your practical delivery track record always speaks loudest.

• Domain experience from finance, the public sector, or other regulated, security‑sensitive environments.

• Hands‑on experience mentoring fellow project managers, managing escalations, or running portfolio health checks.

• Practical familiarity with AI tools and automation to streamline project workflows.

• Pragmatic understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) within commercial consulting constraints.

Your complete compensation package will be discussed in detail during the recruitment process. Our salary model is designed to offer a range of levels based on three factors: skills, responsibilities and impact. We offer a fixed salary with the possibility of performance‑based bonuses and additional benefits.The fixed‑monthly salary range for this position is 5962—7000 €.
