Why This Role Matters
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical & Thermal Production Technician to strengthen our satellite production operations as we scale toward standardized, repeatable, high-volume manufacturing.
In this hands‑on role, you will independently execute complex assembly, subsystem integration, and thermal verification testing following detailed work instructions and AIT procedures. You will act as a technical anchor for your assigned production area, ensuring workstation readiness and driving frontline troubleshooting alongside Specialists and AIT Engineering.
We seek a proactive technical leader who takes full ownership of build activities, models high standards of quality and ESD compliance, and coaches technicians to elevate team capabilities and process stability.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Perform and support mechanical assembly, integration, and testing of precision, high-value hardware.
- Take ownership of day-to-day technical readiness in your assigned production area, including tools, fixtures, work instructions, and workstation setup.
- Provide practical guidance, troubleshooting support, and on-the-job coaching to technicians, helping them build confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with Senior Technician, Production Line Owners, and AIT Engineering to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions for build issues and non-conformances (NCs).
- Identify bottlenecks, recurring defects, unnecessary handling, and sources of rework; work with the team to implement improvements and check their effectiveness.
- Apply Lean and 6S principles to create safe, organized, ergonomic, and efficient workstations.
- Review and refine work instructions, travelers, and checklists to capture redlines and improve procedural clarity and manufacturability.
- Support the transition from prototype and low-volume builds to repeatable production by capturing lessons learned and helping establish reliable processes.
- Improve throughput while protecting safety, quality, and a sustainable working pace. Raise capacity or workload concerns early and help address their underlying causes.
- Build support for process changes by involving the people doing the work, explaining the reasons, and incorporating their feedback.
- Work with engineering and quality teams to resolve production issues and introduce process changes through the appropriate review and approval steps.
