Job summary
Huhtamaki is seeking a Senior Manager in Material Science & Barrier Technologies to lead fiber-based barrier solutions and drive the technology roadmap across paperboard and molded fiber platforms. The role reports to the Head of Material Innovation and focuses on translating science into scalable packaging solutions.
You will lead collaborations with suppliers, research institutions and partners, oversee trials from concept to production, and shape IP strategy while working from Espoo or
Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Emulsion Chemistry, Polymer Science, Surface Chemistry, Dispersion Chemistry or Coating Chemistry.
- Ideally 10+ years in barrier materials, coatings, laminations or related technologies.
- Fluent English with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the fiber and barrier technology roadmap across paperboard and molded fiber platforms.
- Translate technology roadmaps into commercial development projects.
- Oversee laboratory, pilot, and production-scale trials.
- Manage partnerships with suppliers, research institutions and technology partners.
- Drive invention, patent development and IP strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align materials and manufacturing processes.
