Job summary

Arval's Nordic legal team in Finland is seeking an experienced in-house counsel to advise on Nordic operations and support regulatory compliance.

You will draft and revise contracts across leasing, consumer law, procurement, and data protection, while coordinating with BNP Paribas Helsinki and regional teams.

The role emphasizes practical, business‑oriented guidance and collaborative problem solving for finance sector matters.

Qualifications

• Finnish Master of Laws degree.
• 7 to 9 years of relevant professional experience in-house or at a law firm.
• International experience is a plus.
• Finance sector or industrial environment experience preferred.
• Strong background in contract, consumer law, procurement, and data protection.
• AML/CFT regulatory experience is a plus.
• Independent, solution-oriented advice for transactional matters.
• Excellent English and Finnish communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise Arval’s Nordic business, with focus on Finland.
• Draft and revise contracts relating to operational leasing, consumer law, public procurement, insurance distribution, competition law, and data protection.
• Support contract negotiations with customers, partners, and suppliers.
• Provide ongoing legal support to Finnish business units, excluding tax and employment law.
• Identify and assess legal risks and advise the business on legal matters.
• Provide regular training and develop legal templates and documentation.
• Monitor applicable legal and regulatory changes and mitigate risks.
• Manage legal projects and contribute to group-wide initiatives.
• Spend approximately one day per week in BNP Paribas Helsinki office supporting CIB.
• Advise on transactional matters and collaborate with CIB Legal Nordics.

Job description

• Advise Arval’s Nordic business, with focus on Finland
• Draft and revise contracts relating to operational leasing, consumer law, public procurement, insurance distribution, competition law, and data protection
• Support contract negotiations with customers, partners, and suppliers
• Provide ongoing legal support to Finnish business units, excluding tax and employment law
• Identify and assess legal risks and advise the business on legal matters
• Provide regular training
• Develop and maintain legal templates and other documentation
• Monitor applicable legal and regulatory changes
• Assist in mitigating resulting legal risks through revisions to legal documentation, policies, and procedures
• Manage legal projects and contribute to group-wide legal initiatives
• Regularly assist BNP Paribas’s Corporate and Institutional Banking business line
• Spend approximately one working day a week in the BNP Paribas Helsinki office supporting CIB in the Nordics
• Advise on transactional matters and legal and regulatory projects
• Work closely with CIB Legal Nordics, other Nordic legal teams, and business partners
• Report to the Regional Head of Legal Nordics Arval

Requirements

• Finnish Master of Laws degree
• Ideally 7 to 9 years of relevant professional experience working as an in-house legal counsel and/or at a law firm
• International working experience considered a plus
• Previous experience in an industrial environment or in finance considered a plus
• Generalist legal background across multiple legal areas
• Solid background in contract and consumer law, public procurement, and data protection
• Experience in AML/CFT regulatory frameworks is a plus
• Background in transactional and regulatory legal matters in the financial sector in Finland is an advantage but not a requirement
• Ideally, experience providing legal advice and assistance in insurance contract matters
• Independent and solution-driven approach
• Proven ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
• Collaborative team-player with a strong sense of integrity
• Strong analytical judgment and ability to assess complex legal and regulatory matters
• Great communication skills
• Excellent working proficiency in English and Finnish
• Knowledge of Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish considered a plus
