Job description

About Us

Ever wondered what powers the products people rely on every day? Chances are, we've helped build it.

About Us

Ever wondered what powers the products people rely on every day? Chances are, we've helped build it. Our software and development tools help build products used in cars, hospitals, factories, homes, and industries around the world. We help engineers solve complex challenges and create technology people can depend on. Rooted in Nordic values and trusted by innovators worldwide, we combine deep technical expertise with a culture of curiosity, craftsmanship, and collaboration. With decades of engineering experience and a shared passion for technical excellence, we're helping shape the future of software and embedded development. We take pride in building tools for people who build the world around us.

About The Role

Qt's Developer Community team keeps over a million developers actively building with Qt — from retaining our core C++/QML community to maintaining modules to opening the door to new audiences in other languages, students, and the emerging vibe‑coding community. We do this through programs developers actually want to be part of: forums, ambassador and contributor programs, university partnerships, and events. As Senior Lead - Developer Community Growth, you'll own how community fits into Qt's Go-To-Market (GTM) motion — deciding which communities to prioritize, setting the baseline for retention and expansion, and then running the programs day to day. You'll lead virtual project teams and partner closely with Marketing, UX/Product, R&D, and regional Customer Engineering to remove friction across the developer journey. Success looks like a developer base that keeps growing and keeps on innovating. Possible location for this position is Espoo or Oulu, Finland

What You'll Do
  • Define community strategy — how it plays as part of Qt's Go-To-Market (GTM) motion.
  • Identify and prioritize which developer communities to grow and how —nurturing and expanding the C++/QML core; spot expansion opportunities via universities, events, forums - regionally and globally and also reach new communities be it Python, Rust, C# or other languages, the vibe‑coding community.
  • Set the baseline and metrics for community retention and expansion, and track and report progress against them.
  • Lead and coach a virtual team of community program contributors, both internal and external, setting goals and managing performance.
  • Own core programs end to end — forums, ambassador/contributor programs, university partnerships, learning content and experience and events — and the overall developer experience journey, building frameworks that align the organization around improving it.
  • Identify blockers to community growth and adoption across the developer journey, and partner with Marketing, UX/Product, R&D, and Customer Engineering to resolve them.
What You Bring To The Table
  • 5+ years in developer relations, community management, or developer marketing, ideally within open source.
  • 2+ years managing project teams — both project management and management of individual contributors.
  • Technical fluency across C++/QML and ideally understanding of some other languages like Python, Rust, C#, TS/JS, React— enough to earn credibility with developers, not to write production code.
  • Data-driven approach; comfortable setting baselines and KPIs (activation, retention, NPS) to guide decisions.
  • Skilled at using multiple channels to reach developers — online forums, hackathons, events, university partnerships, and collaborations.
  • Excellent communicator and public speaker, experienced as a community spokesperson.
Bonus Points For...
  • Experience growing developer communities in emerging language ecosystems.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development ("vibe‑coding") tools and workflows.
  • Prior experience partnering with universities on developer education or student ambassador programs.
