Job summary

Smartly.io in Helsinki is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our Identity and Access Management system within a secure, scalable, distributed service platform.

You will design and implement backend services using NodeJS and TypeScript, contribute to architecture decisions, and collaborate closely with product and infrastructure teams to deliver secure authentication and authorization capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, architecting, and building robust, distributed web apps.
• Proven ability to document and implement architectural patterns.
• Strong backend with NodeJS/TypeScript and familiarity with frontend tech (React).
• Experience with IAM solutions (OAuth/OpenID/SAML) is a plus and knowledge of RBAC is valued.
• Excellent written and spoken English; proactive, initiative-taking.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and document features and system enhancements for scalable distributed systems.
• Apply professional software engineering practices and patterns.
• Translate designs into robust, maintainable code (NodeJS/TypeScript).
• Develop and maintain APIs for internal and frontend use.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and support teams.
