Job summary

ReOrbit is seeking a Senior Ground Software Engineer to drive our satellite ground software for UKKO and SILTA. The role focuses on end-to-end development, testing and maintenance of robust software systems supporting space data transfer.

You will shape requirements, document designs, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality deliverables while supporting bid work and technical reviews.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented language (e.g., Java, Python, C++).
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle from requirements to maintenance.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and document clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and software quality throughout the process.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain robust ground software for satellite communications.
• Participate in all stages of the software development process.
• Translate customer requirements into software documentation.
• Deliver technical documents and estimates for proposals and reviews.
• Contribute to defining the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and work packages for bids.
• Define test and validation procedures.
• Support reviews at all levels of design, development and testing.
• Communicate effectively and support Assembly, Integration and Test teams.

ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Ground Software Engineer to join the ReOrbit team and support the software campaigns for our current satellite product lines UKKO, SILTA and future missions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain robust ground software systems for satellite communications, spacecraft database and mission operations
• Participate in the work of all stages in the software development process
• Analysis of customer requirements and flow down into the software documentation
• Deliver technical documents and estimates for proposals and reviews
• Participate in defining the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and work packages for bids
• Definition of test / validation procedures
• Support to reviews at all levels of the design, development and testing
• Be able to communicate effectively and provide support to Assembly, Integration and Test teams

Skills And Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in developing complex software tools
• Professional proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, Python, C++, etc.)
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team-based and multidisciplinary environments
• Professional experience using version control systems in a collaborative development setting
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, well-structured documentation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality throughout the development process
