Job summary

Wind River seeks a Senior Engineer – Systems (Board Support Packages) to lead BSP development and maintain configurations for new hardware platforms. You will enable hardware bring‑up, write high‑quality C/C++ code on Linux, and mentor junior engineers across distributed teams.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners to drive BSP architecture decisions, review code, optimize performance, and ensure hardware compatibility on multiple platforms in a global environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE or related field required.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in embedded/hardware domains.
• 3+ years of experience with embedded systems and hardware.

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE

The Senior Engineer – Systems (Board Support Packages) provides technical expertise and leadership for developing and maintaining BSP components and configurations. Senior Engineers work independently on hardware enablement, support new platforms, and mentor junior engineers in BSP development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development & Implementation

• Develop and maintain BSP components and configurations
• Enable new hardware platforms and processors
• Support hardware bring‑up and validation
• Write high‑quality, maintainable code following team standards
• Debug and resolve complex BSP‑related issues

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years of experience with embedded systems and hardware
• Experience with C/C++ programming in production systems
• Strong background in software development lifecycle using Linux

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming with Linux
• Solid understanding of embedded systems and hardware
• Experience with embedded systems development
• Knowledge of build systems (Yocto, Buildroot, or similar)
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills
• Experience with version control (Git) and code review
• Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum)

Domain Knowledge

• Board support packages (BSP)
• Hardware enablement

• Bootloaders (U‑Boot, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
