Job summary

Cognizant Finland is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support enterprise database platforms across on‑premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments. This role requires 7–10+ years of hands‑on experience with a strong track record in performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, and database security.

You will operate within ITSM‑driven change, incident and problem processes and collaborate with security, service management, and stakeholders to keep the estate

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years hands-on DBA experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong SQL Server knowledge plus Oracle/PostgreSQL/MySQL/MariaDB as applicable.
• Experience in HA/DR, clustering and replication.
• Performance tuning and capacity management.
• Ability to work within ITSM change, incident, problem, security and audit controls.
• Ownership, analytical troubleshooting and solid documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, migrate, clone, and decommission databases.
• Operate SQL Server and, where in scope, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB.
• Monitor database health, availability, performance, capacity, jobs, storage, replication.
• Manage backup and recovery, high availability, clustering, replication, DR tests.
• Tune SQL, indexes, memory, I/O, and configuration with diagnostic evidence.
• Administer security, service accounts, users, roles, encryption, auditing, compliance.
• Resolve incidents and problems, support restoration, produce RCA, changes via ITSM.
• Automate routine administration with PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Python.
• Maintain CMDB records, SOPs, build standards, runbooks and support docs.
