Job summary

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to guide the development of a cutting-edge AI platform. You will align researchers, engineers and security experts to build scalable, production-ready AI capabilities spanning cloud and on‑prem environments.

You’ll drive platform governance, model deployment, and decision-making on tools and deployment patterns, while mentoring teams and shaping the internal AI engineering community.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in AI platform engineering and ML.
• Production-grade platforms, platform ownership and lifecycle.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, GPU workloads, CI/CD and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision, architecture, roadmap and lifecycle of VTT's shared AI platform.
• Lead design and implementation of scalable AI development and deployment capabilities across cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Provide governed access to models via AI gateways and reusable platform services.
• Establish engineering practices for experimentation, deployment, monitoring and governance.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate scientific use cases into reusable capabilities.
• Drive technical discovery, onboarding and model/tools selection with research teams.
• Integrate the AI platform with data platforms, IAM, infrastructure and developer platforms.
• Define SLAs, capacity, ownership and platform metrics for continuous improvement.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and lead proofs-of-concept to production.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen the internal AI engineering community.
