Aalto University in Espoo invites applications for a Research Engineer to advance robotics integration and testing in the MIDAS infrastructure. You will assemble robotic systems, configure ROS/ROS2 environments, and develop test benches while coordinating with researchers and safety experts.

Qualifications

Practical integration of robotics and testing in a lab setting.
Hands-on electronics and embedded systems knowledge.
Experience with laboratory devices, commissioning, calibrations or documentation.
Willingness to adopt and implement safety practices (robotic, electrical, lab).
Good cooperation and service attitude with staff and external partners.
Good English and Finnish language skills.

Responsibilities

Assemble robotic systems from components: platforms, sensors, computing and safety functions.
Configure software/hardware environments, especially ROS/ROS2 entities; perform basic diagnostics.
Develop and maintain test/measurement setups (HIL/SIL benches, field tests, data collection).
Support design and prototyping of electronics and embedded solutions for robotics and research environments.
Maintain shared lab equipment and prepare user instructions, ensuring safety with safety experts.
