A leading university in Finland is seeking an Undergraduate student for a Research Assistant or Master thesis project. The role involves conducting research on mechanosensitive membrane microdomains and offers a salary typically between €2000-2443/month. This position provides an opportunity to learn new techniques in an inspiring research environment.
The Hakala Research group is looking for highly motivated Undergraduate student for Research Assistant or Master thesis project. The start date of the employment is November 17th, 2025 or upon agreement. The duration of the employment is 3-12 months upon agreement.
The Hakala Research Group is a newly founded research team at the Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Helsinki. We study structural mechanisms and biological functions of mechanosensitive membrane microdomains. By using a combination of structural biology, biochemistry, in vitro reconstitution, cell biology, and fluorescence microscopy imaging tools, we aim to uncover how protein-membrane interactions promote membrane microdomain formation and how these structures respond to external stress. We want to understand how mechanosensitive membrane microdomains maintain normal cellular processes and how changes in their structure and biophysical properties lead to diseases.
