Job summary

United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki invites applications for a Research Assistant / Database Administrator to manage large country‑level databases (WIID, GRD), accrue, clean and update data, and document the process using Stata do‑files. The role requires a Master’s in Economics/Statistics with 3+ years’ experience and strong data skills.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or equivalent quantitative social science with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
Strong skills in collecting, cleansing, analysis and management of large databases.
Proficiency in Stata and MS Excel; knowledge of distribution and tax data is an asset.

Responsibilities

Update WIID and GRD databases on a regular basis to incorporate latest data on distribution and taxation at country level.
Update WIID and GRD user guides and documentation for country-year observations.
Generate manuals describing the process of updating the WIID and GRD.
Assist in the visualization process of the WIID and GRD by providing data as requested.
Provide ideas for the further development of the databases.
Other duties as requested by the supervisor.
