Metsä Wood is looking for highly skilled and motivated
R&D ENGINEER
to join our Research & Development team in Äänekoski.
Metsä Wood is a part of Metsä Group and leading company in the engineered wood product industry, specializing in innovative products and solutions. We are constructing a new research and development laboratory for veneer-based wood products at the Kerto LVL factory in Äänekoski. The new laboratory is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The laboratory will serve as a testing environment where new high-value veneer-based wood products are researched and developed in collaboration with Metsä Group's partner network. This investment creates the conditions for testing material-efficient load-bearing structures and also enables product research based on a broader raw material base.
In this position, you will be responsible for managing selected R&D projects, executing associating laboratory level manufacturing tests and, collaborating with industry partners.

- Manage selected R&D projects with schedule, resource planning, and ensuring execution.
- Operate laboratory equipment and create test reports based on individual project needs.
- Participate in selected R&D projects and maintain a general understanding of given project scope
- Ensure collaboration with industry partners, such as machinery manufacturers and partner network, to drive innovation needed in projects.

What are we looking for?
- A relevant higher education degree is considered an advantage
- Ability to adopt and utilize new lab scale manufacturing systems, curiosity and resilient attitude within the R&D operative work environment.
- Experience in the production, processes, technologies and material testing is considered an advantage.
- Collaboration and communication skills at least in English, other language skill are considered an advantage.
- Active, careful, self-motivated, and cooperative individual with the ability to work in an international environment.
