Job description

Barona Engineering is now looking for a Project Planner for our client MAKINEN in a permanent position in Turku or Lieto, Finland. The selected person will be recruited directly to MAKINEN’s organization.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Planner to join MAKINEN’s project organization. This role is a great opportunity for someone with a technical background who wants to work at the core of international marine interior refurbishment projects.

Your Role

As a Project Planner, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and communicating the schedules of complex refurbishment projects.

In practice, you will ensure that materials, furniture, and components are delivered to the right place at the right time – sometimes with minute-level accuracy. You will participate actively in project meetings, reporting on schedule status, and work with suppliers to keep schedules accurate and up to date. Your role is crucial in keeping projects on track and ensuring seamless coordination between teams, subcontractors, and clients.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, updating, and managing project schedules with MS Project and internal planning tools
  • Ensuring accurate and timely material flow to the project site
  • Participating in project meetings and reporting on progress and deviations
  • Collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers and following up on their schedules as needed
  • Supporting project teams with analytical insights and solutions to resolve scheduling challenges
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by applying lean and takt production principles

What We Expect from You

We are looking for a precise and analytical professional with strong communication skills and the courage to take initiative. You enjoy working in a quick-moving, project-driven environment and are motivated by problem-solving.

The right person for this role has a suitable technical education combined with an understanding of lean principles and takt production methods. You are confident with MS Project and Excel, and you bring some experience from project work or production planning, preferably in a fast-paced environment. Most importantly, you are analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of logical reasoning. You are not afraid to voice your opinion in project meetings, and you are skilled at coordinating schedules with suppliers and subcontractors. Strong interpersonal skills and fluency in English are essential. Since this role is highly hands-on, we expect you to work on-site in Turku or Lieto, with no option for remote work.

What MAKINEN Offers You

At MAKINEN you will join an experienced team with two other Project Planners, with thorough onboarding and support. The role offers long-term opportunities to develop your skills and contribute to the delivery of international refurbishment projects.

You will be offered:

  • A responsible role in global marine refurbishment projects
  • Comprehensive training and onboarding
  • An opportunity to work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers in an international environment
  • A collaborative company culture where teamwork and open communication are valued
  • A permanent position in a growing global company
