The role involves strengthening MAKINENs Project Management team to lead demanding refurbishment projects for cruise ships and passenger ferries worldwide. This is a versatile position in the marine industry, requiring resilience, leadership, and the ability to keep projects on track under high expectations.

The position is based in Turku, Finland and involves international travel, as projects are executed globally.

Your Role

As a Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for delivering large-scale marine refurbishment projects from start to finish, with each project typically lasting around six months. You will lead the project team, manage subcontractors, ensure quality, and keep projects on time and on budget – balancing clients, schedules, budgets, and internal stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Leading refurbishment projects
  • Managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Overseeing large project organizations of 100+ workers, along with a management team of 20 people
  • Coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution
  • Acting as a steady and reliable leader under pressure
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members by sharing expertise
  • Representing MAKINEN globally, with projects that may take you to shipyards in Spain, the Bahamas, Singapore, and beyond

  • Fluent English skills (other languages are a plus)
  • Willingness to travel internationally
