Job summary

The Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) at the University of Helsinki invites applications for a Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor in Meteorology.

The appointee will conduct an independent research program, teach courses in synoptic meteorology and numerical weather prediction, supervise students, and collaborate with FMI and other partners. Qualifications

• Internationally recognized track record in synoptic scale dynamic meteorology and numerical weather prediction methods.
• Ability to conduct independent scientific research and teach at Master’s and Doctoral levels.
• Leadership in scientific research and participation in education development.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead an independent research program within meteorology.
• Teach courses on synoptic meteorology and numerical weather prediction.
• Supervise students and post-doctoral researchers; contribute to curricula development.
• Collaborate with the Finnish Meteorological Institute and other partners in education and research.
