Job summary

QOCO Systems is seeking an Algorithm Engineer to join our team in Espoo. You'll bridge algorithms and software, supporting the solver within our Assignment SaaS product and translating models into production-ready code.

This role blends deep mathematical optimization with practical software delivery. Ideal candidates have a Master’s in CS/Applied Math/OR, strong coding ability in a real codebase, and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, applied mathematics, operations research or a related field.
• Exposure to both computer science and applied mathematics during studies.
• Solid grasp of mathematical optimization: linear and integer programming, constraint programming, combinatorial optimization, or scheduling and assignment problems.
• Ability to write real code in a proper codebase with other developers.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Supporting our algorithm engineer on the development and improvement of our solver
• Translating mathematical models and algorithms into working, maintainable code
• Working with the development team to implement and integrate the solver into Assignment, our live SaaS product
• Making optimization work reliably in production: performance, correctness, and behaviour under real customer data
• Helping the team understand what the algorithms actually do, and helping the algorithm side understand what production requires
