Job summary

H&MV Engineering seeks an experienced Primary Plant Technician (Suurjänniteasentaja) to lead high‑voltage primary plant work on transformer installation at substations, solar/wind, and storage projects. The role combines hands‑on supervision with guidance for apprentices, ensuring safe, compliant execution.

You will oversee installation, testing, and maintenance of AIS and GIS equipment, and collaborate with engineers, commissioning, and logistics teams across northern Europe.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years hands-on HV/substation experience.
• Certifications in electrical fitting, HV systems, or transformer installation desirable.
• Able to read electrical schematics and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Safely install, assemble, maintain, test, and inspect HV primary plant equipment.
• Ensure work complies with project specs, procedures, safety and quality standards.
• Travel within northern Europe as required.
• Install and maintain transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, CTs/VTs.
• Support oil filling, vacuum treatment, leak testing.

About the Role:

Primary Plant Technician ( Suurjänniteasentaja ). We are seeking an experienced electrical supervisor for primary plant works specializing in Transformer Installation for high-voltage (HV) environments, including substations, solar/wind farms, and battery storage projects. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the installation and maintenance of AIS and GIS equipment. this person will play a vital role in the progression of younger staff through their apprentice ship as he leads the work crew on the ground in a hands on supervisory role.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Primary Plant Technician is responsible for the safe installation, assembly, maintenance, testing, and inspection of high-voltage primary plant equipment on substations and power system projects.
• The role ensures all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, company procedures, and relevant safety and quality standards.
• Flexibility to travel within northern europe.
• Installation & Assembly Install, assemble, and maintain primary plant equipment including: Power Transformers GIS Switchgear AIS Switchgear Circuit Breakers Disconnectors Instrument Transformers (CTs & VTs) Earthing Systems Carry out mechanical assembly activities in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
• Support transformer oil filling, vacuum treatment, leak testing, and associated activities.
• Safety & Compliance Follow all HSE procedures, RAMS, permit-to-work systems, and client requirements.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with local electrical regulations.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inspections.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within work areas.
• Planning & Documentation Read and interpret: General Arrangement Drawings Mechanical Drawings Single Line Diagrams Manufacturer Manuals Installation Procedures Complete daily reports, inspection records, checklists, and quality documentation.
• Assist with material verification and inventory control.
• Team Collaboration Work closely with commissioning, engineering, civil, logistics, and project teams.
• Support apprentices and new technicians where required.
• Participate in outage and energisation activities

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in high-voltage or substation settings, with a proven track record in transformer installation and associated HV equipment.
• Relevant certifications in electrical fitting, HV systems, or transformer installation are highly desirable.
• Proficient in reading electrical schematics, strong problem‑solving skills, and familiarity with safety protocols in HV environments.
