A leading research university in Finland is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for a project in artificial intelligence and bioinformatics. This role involves analyzing large datasets and developing machine learning methods for biomedical research. Ideal candidates possess a doctoral degree and experience in relevant fields. The position promotes equality and offers opportunities for professional growth.
The University of Turku offers a unique and inspiring work environment. You will work with top experts, pedagogues, and researchers and apply artificial intelligence and high-performance computing in medical research.
The Turku Bioscience Centre has an open fixed‑term postdoctoral position until 31 December 2027, with employment starting January 2026 or as agreed. The Turku Medical Bioinformatics Centre (https://elolab.utu.fi) at Turku Bioscience Centre seeks a postdoctoral researcher to join our Research Council of Finland project that develops and applies artificial intelligence and high-performance computing to analyze large‑scale omics datasets. The project aims to identify molecular factors influencing disease development and explore how this understanding can advance treatments for immune‑mediated diseases and cancer.
The research will be conducted in collaboration with the University of Turku, the Finnish IT Center for Science (CSC/ELIXIR), and biomedicine experts, providing a multidisciplinary environment with opportunities for international development in the field.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will join the project focusing on AI and high‑performance computing in large‑scale omics data analysis. Your work will emphasize method development and application to biomedical research questions. Key responsibilities include:
This position offers the opportunity to deepen expertise at the interface of artificial intelligence and bioinformatics and to work closely with leading experts across disciplines. A special focus of the project is to develop a high‑performance computing framework for mass spectrometry proteomics to enhance processing and interpretation of large datasets using deep learning and GPU computing. The framework will be tested in synthetic and real‑world experimental setups, with a focus on identifying early disease markers.
We are seeking motivated candidates at the intersection of artificial intelligence, high‑performance computing, and biomedicine.
