Job summary

University of Jyväskylä seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy for a 3-year fixed-term contract to contribute to the Illuminationist Philosophy in the Islamic World (ISHRAQ) project led by Professor Jari Kaukua. You will study the reception of Suhrawardī’s philosophy in 14th–15th century CE authors, work with untranslated Arabic sources, and publish in international journals.

A completed doctoral degree and strong English are required.

Qualifications

• Completed Doctoral degree in Philosophy or related field.
• Sufficient knowledge of classical Arabic to work with untranslated primary sources.
• Strong academic record and ability to work in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on the reception of Suhrawardī’s philosophy in fourteenth- and fifteenth-century CE authors.
• Work with untranslated primary sources in classical Arabic.
• Publish findings in international journals and contribute to the ISHRAQ project.
