Job summary

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Helsinki invites applications for a fixed-term Doctoral Researcher position in Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, starting January 2026 or when a suitable candidate is found. The role is part of the TRIM research group and leads toward a doctoral degree.

The successful candidate will conduct organic synthesis, radiolabeling, and in vitro/in vivo evaluations, contribute to publications, and supervise undergraduate lab work, while teaching laboratory

Qualifications

• M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry or related field.
• Experience in organic synthesis and compound characterization is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently within an international multidisciplinary team.
• Good written and oral English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel within the EU for research visits.

Responsibilities

• Develop alpha-emitting radioligands and perform radiolabeling synthesis.
• Purify and characterize radiolabeling precursors and products.
• Carry out radiolabeling synthesis development and biological evaluation in vitro and in vivo.
• Present findings to collaborators, prepare funding travel grants, and lead manuscript writing.
• Co-manage facilities and supervise undergraduate laboratory work (≈5% of time).
• Contribute to teaching radiochemistry laboratory courses.
