Role

We are looking for a People Support Hub Team Lead, Europe to join our team and drive excellence in HR operations. This position reports to the Head of People Support Hub. The preferred work locations are in Poland, Portugal, Spain or Hungary, but other Europe locations can be considered. The role offers the opportunity to lead a regional team of HR professionals, ensuring efficient service delivery and continuous improvement in a global setting.

What you will be doing

As the People Support Hub (PSH) Team Lead, you will oversee the daily operations of PSH in the region, ensuring a positive employee experience and contributing to the organization's overall success. This role will offer the opportunity to drive continuous improvement practices with practical operational expertise for excellent global service centre execution.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Lead HR activities in PSH, implementing HR strategies, policies, and processes to meet current and future human resource needs.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, practices and initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, improve employee experience and align people and HR capabilities with the organization’s objectives.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the success of HR processes and policies.
  • Provide expert guidance to leaders and managers on people-related matters.
  • Transform and implement improvements to PSH for consistent global standards while being agile to local requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement & Service Delivery: Serve as the first point of contact for Wärtsilä employees and leaders, ensuring the best employee experience across the lifecycle (Onboarding, Offboarding, Master Data, Reporting, Employment Documentation, Performance Management, Payroll and Time & Attendance).
  • Advise and guide managers with HR-related matters, partner with them to align HR activities with business objectives, and drive HR projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor SLAs and KPIs to ensure high-quality service delivery, address escalated issues, and resolve inquiries.
  • Generate and analyse reports on PSH performance, identifying trends and providing insights to senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement, utilizing AI, technology and automation to streamline HR processes and review PSH operations.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations and internal guidelines, manage risks, and maintain confidentiality and data security of employee information.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead team members, plan activities, set objectives and performance goals, and monitor improvement of performance.
  • Coach and develop the team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, learning, growth and innovation.
  • Enable team members to provide insights into local requirements to support both business and employees effectively.
You will shine in this role, when you have
  • Desirably 10 years of experience in HR, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within an HR Shared Service Centre.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices across the employee lifecycle.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to lead virtual teams across different cultures.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and tools, particularly SuccessFactors, Employee Central and Service Now / Zendesk.
  • Empathy and a service-minded approach.
