Job summary

Sartorius AG in Helsinki is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our product development team. You will design and develop mechanics for single-use products and related instruments, transferring designs into production and managing the product lifecycle.

You will work in an international, hybrid environment with collaboration across product management, production, quality, procurement, and suppliers, ensuring manufacturability and cost considerations are integrated into design decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience designing injection-molded plastic components and production transfer.
• Several years of experience with at least one 3D design software.
• Experience in technical documentation, drawing creation, and product data management.
• Ability to understand the bigger picture and move design tasks forward systematically.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Good communication skills in English; Finnish knowledge is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and develop expertise.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model and collaborate with the team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the mechanics of single-use products and related instruments.
• Design injection-moulded plastic components and transfer designs into production.
• Develop new products from requirements definition through verification, production transfer, and product lifecycle management.
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and other technical documentation.
• Collaborate with product management, production, quality, procurement, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Consider manufacturability, assembly, cost, quality, and usability when developing design solutions.
• Maintain existing products, create design changes, and drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in design reviews and risk management, as well as product testing and problem-solving when required.
• Take responsibility for the mechanical design of projects and, over time, have the opportunity to act as project’s technical owner.
