Job summary

Valmet is seeking a senior AI leader to shape how Artificial Intelligence is applied across the Pulp, Energy and Circularity (PEC) Business Area. You will drive AI opportunities from ideation to implementation, prioritizing use cases and building a roadmap that aligns with strategic objectives.

You will collaborate globally to turn technology insights into practical business value and help establish a long-term AI vision for the business area.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in information management, computer science or a related field.
• Hands-on experience applying AI in a business environment.
• Minimum five years of experience in applying AI, digital transformation or advanced analytics within process industries, manufacturing, industrial services, or customer service environments.
• Ability to connect business needs with AI and translate ideas into initiatives.
• Excellent English communication; Finnish/Swedish is a plus.

Working in the PEC Business Area's Strategy and Business Development function, you will build a structured approach to identifying, prioritizing and implementing AI opportunities while driving collaboration across a global organization.

Your Responsibilities

• Drive and coordinate AI initiatives from ideas to implementation, ensuring opportunities are turned into practical solutions that deliver measurable business value.
• Identify, evaluate, prioritize, and develop AI use cases across customer service, engineering, product development, operations, and other business functions.
• Develop and maintain a structured roadmap for AI adoption aligned with business objectives and strategic priorities.
• Build and maintain a strong internal network to connect stakeholders, share best practices, and accelerate the adoption of new technologies across the organization.
• Stay up to date with developments in AI (especially GenAI and agentic AI) and related technologies, assessing their relevance and potential impact on the business.

What We Expect From You

• You have a master’s degree in information management, computer science or a related field.
• You have genuine interest and hands-on experience in applying AI in a business environment.
• Minimum five years of experience in applying AI, digital transformation or advanced analytics within process industries, manufacturing, industrial services, or customer service environments.
• You understand how to connect business needs with artificial intelligence and translate ideas into actionable initiatives.
• You have excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken. Finnish and/or Swedish is considered as an advantage.
