If you responded YES, this position might be for you!
We are looking for a Legal Counsel – Compliance to join Outokumpu, a global leader in stainless steel setting the industry standard for sustainability! As a Legal Counsel – Compliance, you will join the company’s tight-knit group Ethics & Compliance team and become a member of the company’s global in-house Legal, Compliance and IPR team. This role is a temporary parental leave substitute position of approximately one year, with a starting date ideally during summer 2025.
Outokumpus Ethics & Compliance team drives the implementation and development of Outokumpus group-wide Ethics and Compliance (E&C) Program. In practice, this includes supporting the organization on various E&C topics, such as competition law, anti-corruption, trade compliance and data privacy matters on a global scale. The team is also the policy owner of Outokumpu’s Code of Conduct and supports the company’s misconduct reporting governance.
In your day-to-day work, you will, for example, create and develop Outokumpu’s competition law compliance processes and documentation and give ongoing competition law advice to your colleagues. You will also support Outokumpus business operations in competition law related matters, especially in connection with contracts and R&D topics. In addition, you will advise colleagues in other E&C areas such as in trade compliance matters, collaborate with E&C governance bodies and provide E&C related training on a global scale.
This position is a perfect fit for a lawyer with at least two years of relevant post-graduate experience either from a law firm/legal consultancy, an in-house legal department of an internationally operating company, or a competition authority. Please note, however, that we are more than happy to hear from you if you have gained more professional experience and find this opportunity interesting!
Our ideal candidate has gained a solid background in competition law and is eager to learn more of other areas of E&C – however, if you have prior experience of such topics and the implementation of global E&C programs, this is considered a big plus! You have a precise way of working, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and feel at home as a part of a truly international work community. Also, we expect you to be willing to travel on occasion, and to communicate effortlessly in English – other languages, such as Finnish, Swedish, German and Spanish, are considered an advantage.
Outokumpu offers you:
– A position combining ownership and teamwork: in a small yet agile team you get to carry independent responsibilities, but you are always backed up by your helpful and experienced colleagues when needed.
– A chance to join an ambitious team of E&C professionals running a highly regarded E&C program, giving you plenty of opportunities to develop in the field of E&C.
– An organization where the tone from the top supports E&C topics, and E&C expertise is highly valued.
– A low-hierarchy culture where people treat each other with respect and are extremely committed to contributing to Outokumpu’s success.
– An opportunity to join a forerunner of the global steel industry, creating sustainable solutions impacting generations to come.
– A flexible hybrid work model combining office work at the Helsinki HQ and remote work
