Job summary

Reaktor's Defence & Security Unit in Helsinki is seeking an experienced Lead System Administrator to join our internal IT team. You will build and maintain secure, reliable environments and drive automation to reduce manual work while solving complex infrastructure challenges.

In this hands-on role, you will own the team's backlog, set priorities based on business impact, collaborate with developers and stakeholders, and guide infrastructure planning to support our defense software projects.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in system administration or IT infrastructure.
• Proven ability to gather requirements, prioritise a team backlog, and balance conflicting demands.
• Experience working with business stakeholders and aligning technical priorities with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Owning, maintaining, and refining the team's backlog to ensure clear direction and steady workflow.
• Setting priorities for upcoming work based on business impact, urgency, and technical dependencies.
• Building and maintaining DefSec's internal IT systems.
• Developing automation for system maintenance and infrastructure management.
• Ensuring environments are secure, compliant, stable, and reliable.
• Troubleshooting issues across hardware, OS, networks, and automation.
• Collaborating with developers, stakeholders, and consultants to translate needs into actionable work.
• Improving documentation, sharing knowledge, and developing technical practices.
• Contributing to day-to-day operations and longer-term infrastructure planning.
