Job summary

Mylab, a Nordic health tech company in Tampere, is seeking a Lead Software Developer to guide a development team using the My+ laboratory information system. You will balance hands-on coding with architectural oversight, champion scalable, maintainable solutions, and explore AI-assisted development ethically with the team.

This role offers flexible remote work and occasional Tampere office visits, plus a strong benefits package and opportunities to grow in an internationally expanding health

• Strong experience in software development and understanding of large system landscapes.
• Production‑grade backend in JVM environments; Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot valued.
• Strong command of relational databases including data modelling and migrations.

Your impact as a Lead Software Developer

As a Lead Software Developer, you will serve as the technical lead for your development team. Working with the My+® laboratory information system, you will be responsible for the technical development of the products and services within your area. You will guide technical decision‑making, drive solutions forward and act as a role model for your team. At the same time, you will remain closely involved in hands‑on software development, dedicating a significant portion of your time to building software. This is a hands‑on Technical Lead role without formal people‑management responsibilities.

You will plan and drive solutions within agreed architectural guidelines, strengthen architectural thinking and decision‑making in the team, and act as the team's technical point of contact towards our architects. You will help turn technical discussion into clear choices and support the team in building maintainable, scalable solutions. As AI‑assisted development is part of our everyday work, you will also help shape how the team uses AI tools responsibly and effectively.

You will join one of our development teams and work alongside experienced in‑house developers and consultants. You will work closely with developers, testers, Product Owners, architects and other stakeholders across the organization, bringing technical leadership into everyday collaboration. Success in the role means strengthening the team's technical capability and ownership while continuing to contribute hands‑on to software development.

What you bring to the table:

• Strong experience in software development and the ability to understand large, interconnected system landscapes
• Solid, production‑grade backend experience in JVM environments, especially Java or Kotlin; Spring Boot experience is valuable
• Strong command of relational databases: data modelling, performance tuning and migrations
• Demonstrated technical leadership at team level
• Ability to contribute hands‑on to modern product development; experience with React and Material UI is valuable
• Confidence to lead technical discussion, take responsibility and collaborate actively with developers, testers, Product Owners and architects
• Fluent spoken and written English; Finnish or Swedish is considered an advantage
• Beneficial skills to have: Docker and container technologies, agentic AI tools, shaping team‑level AI practices, CI/CD and test automation
