Job summary

Sievo is seeking a Senior (Lead) Platform Data Engineer in Helsinki. You will build and operate data pipelines and the platforms that power large-scale analytics.

The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, software engineering, and platform ownership, requiring ownership of environments, infrastructure, and end-to-end data flows. You will work with data scientists, product managers, and engineers to gather requirements, trade-offs, and deliverables to production.

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering and ELT experience building maintainable data pipelines, with code-based workflows.
• Proficient SQL and Python for large, complex datasets; experience with Spark.
• Experience with cloud data technologies, preferably Azure, and data platforms like Synapse, Databricks.
• Ability to design end-to-end data architecture and processing flows.
• Solid software engineering practices: Git, CI/CD, testing, and reproducible production code.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines for large datasets with emphasis on reliability.
• Own and manage controlled, reproducible environments and cloud resources.
• Design data architecture and processing flows with code-based pipelines.
• Monitor, instrument, and improve system health and metrics.
• Automate recurring data processes and expand the data environment as needed.
• Apply engineering practices across the stack: version control, testing, and production-grade code.
• Define data quality checks to ensure trustworthy downstream outputs.
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and drive deliverables to production.
• Troubleshoot data quality and integration issues, addressing root causes.
