Job summary

Eaton seeks a Lead Firmware Test Engineer in Vantaa, Finland, to own firmware verification, validation, and test automation for embedded systems in power conversion products. You will define testing strategies, frameworks, and lab practices, while collaborating with firmware, hardware, systems, and validation teams.

The role combines hands-on automation development with technical leadership, guiding testing methodologies and continuous improvement across the R&D organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field with several years of embedded firmware testing experience.
• Experience in verification, validation, and test automation for embedded systems is required.
• Hands-on testing in high-power lab environments and familiarity with power conversion products.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, and experience with Robot Framework and CI/CD integration.

Responsibilities

• Define and own test strategies for embedded firmware and system-level validation of critical power systems.
• Lead test plans, specifications and verification matrices aligned with product requirements and standards.
• Provide technical direction for manual and automated testing, and HiL/MiL/SiL validation strategies.
• Lead and contribute to automated testing of firmware functionality, performance, and safety-related behaviors.
• Develop and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Python and Robot Framework.
• Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and release readiness.
• Review results, support root-cause analysis, and guide teams in debugging and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical oversight for laboratory testing, including interfaces and real-time control behaviors.
