Job summary

Visual Components in Espoo, Finland, is seeking a Junior Software QA Engineer to reinforce the QA team. Hybrid work is possible within the Uusimaa region as the team renews the platform and builds future-proof features.

You will test features, develop UI automation scripts, and collaborate with developers to improve quality standards and tooling across the product.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC programming, including FBD, ST, and SFC.
• Experience with Virtual Commissioning technologies and industrial protocols (OPC UA).
• Good understanding of IEC 61131-3 and IEC 61499 standards.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• C# and/or Python experience is an advantage.
• Educational background in automation technology, robotics, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Excellent written and spoken English; primary working language.

Responsibilities

• Test and verify features as part of the QA team.
• Develop scripts and test data for UI automation and tooling.
• Improve testing practices and collaborate with developers; unit tests and automation still written by developers.

The role and the team

We are looking for a Junior Software QA Engineer to join our QA Team and to reinforce our team working on renewing the Visual Components platform and building future-proof features that will enable our product to grow. We support your decision if you wish to work in a hybrid setting while located in the Uusimaa region. The team members work as members of the software development teams and have their own QA team’s development goals. The QA team members share tasks to encourage learning in different areas and to make the team(s) more adaptable. The software development teams use Scrum and comprise of developers, a testing engineer, and a product owner.

Your impact

The main tasks in our QAare:

• Testingand feature verification.
• Developing scriptsand test datafor e.g., UI test automationor our other tooling.
• Developing testing practices and collaborating with developers. Software developers will still be writing their unit tests and other test automation.

Being a part of ourPLCdevelopment team, you will be tasked with testingLogic Modelling tools fordesktop. You will be responsible for helping the team maintain and improve their quality standards and work with them to tackle various challenges.

Skills important for this role:

• While we expect you to have experience in some of the areas below, we do not expect you to be an expert in everythinglisted below.
• Experience with PLC programming, including Function Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Text (ST), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC), as well as hands-on experience with platforms such as CODESYS.
• Experience with Virtual Commissioning technologies and industrial communication protocols,such as orsimilar toOPC UA.
• Good understanding of PLC standards, including IEC 61131-3 and IEC 61499.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with C# and/or Python is considered an advantage.
• Relevant educational background in automation technology, robotics, electrical engineering, computer science, game programming, information technology, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is also valued.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills, as English is our primary working language.
