The Faculty of Built Environment (BEN) at Tampere University offers an open position for a University lecturer starting autumn 2025. The role is within the civil engineering department, focusing on geotechnics.
The faculty is known for its international and innovative community, with research and teaching in architecture and civil engineering, emphasizing sustainable construction and community themes. The civil engineering unit trains professionals and conducts research on the built environment.
The Terra Research Center, established in 2020, specializes in geotechnics, earth structures, railway structures, infrastructure digitalization, and measurement services, employing around 40 staff members. Its mission is to promote a safe, sustainable living environment through research and education, collaborating closely with industry.
The university lecturer will teach courses related to Finnish ground conditions, soil mechanics, geotechnical design, and foundation engineering structures, and participate in study module planning. The role includes research and thesis supervision in these areas.
Required expertise includes knowledge of Finnish ground and climate conditions, soil mechanics theory, geotechnical calculation, modeling methods, familiarity with the European geotechnical design system, and practical application experience.
